A New Community Centre for Idinjar
The Old Community Centre

Front of the building CDSA rented previously
From its inception the project moved from one inadequate rented building to another.
By 2010 we were having to rent a dilapidated 3 storey building. Part of the roof was missing, during the monsoon rains, water was coming through the whole building.

Rear of the building CDSA rented previously
It eventually became unsafe to use and in this remote area there was no other suitable accommodation. A secure base was needed for the project.

The New Community Centre

Idinjar building plot
With the drive, belief and enthusiasm of James Hopkins we raised over £60,000 during four years. We bought a plot of land in 2010, and completed the building of the new community centre by January 2014.

Support in the Idinjar community is wholehearted. During construction a local man came up and asked, “When are you going to finish OUR building?”
